A unique 3 day, 40km hike where participants have an opportunity to touch the birth places of some of South Africa’s Iconic freedom fighters including President Nelson Mandela.

About the event
The Icon's Journey Marathon (a proud member of Proudly South African) presents to you it's 5th annual multi-sporting event.
The Icon’s Journey Marathon vision was inspired by President Nelson Mandela’s journey of growing up in the rural villages of the former Transkei homeland to becoming a Global Icon.

39km Hike
Day 1 : Meet and greet at Nelson Mandela Museum (Mthatha). Tour Madiba’s historical landmarks; Qunu, Mqhekezweni and Clarkebury. Sleep over at Hluleka Nature Reserve.
Day 2 : Hike from Hluleka to Tsweleni (16km), Sleep over at Tsweleni.
Day 3 : Hike from Tsweleni to Silaka Nature Reserve (23 Kms) and a pass into a music festival at Nelson Mandela Qunu Museum on Saturday from midday. Camp at Qunu Museum.
Hike includes; transportation, meals, iconic t-shirt, 3 x nights accommodation.
ACCOMMODATION INFO
Continuing with the adventure, hikers will be accommodated overnight at Clarkebury High School.
Costs:
R1999 per person.
Entry covers return transport from Mthatha CBD, food, accommodation, Iconic T-shirt and the intimate tour of both villages by a tour guide.
