400KM ICONIC CHALLENGE

In July 2022, 19 social runners ran from Fort Hare University in Alice to Nelson Mandela Museum (Mthatha) over 8 days covering a total distance of 400km. The aim was to raise enough funds to benefit 4000 rural / township school boys and girls with school shoes, sanitary towels & sports kits.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

RULES OR CRITERIA FOR APPLICANTS:

  • The applicant must be at least 18 years or older.

  • The application is open to everyone in South Africa.

  • In 2023 we are looking for 10 runners for the 400km Iconic Challenge fundraising initiative.  5 runners being male and 5 other runners being female.

  • We are looking for 10 runners for the 400km Iconic Challenge Fundraising initiative.

  • This is an exhibition run, there are no podium finishes and no prize monies.

  • If the applicant is approved and decides not to run anymore, the applicant needs to advise The Icon's Journey Marathon Organising Committee 4 weeks prior to the event.

WHAT RUNNERS MUST KNOW:

  • ​The 400km Iconic Challenge fundraising initiative takes place on the 23rd July 2023 to the 30th July 2022 in the Eastern Cape. The run cuts through Eastern Cape’s Resistance & Liberation Heritage Route.

  • The 10 social runners will take part in an 8 days 400km charity run to raise funds that will benefit school boys and girls from underprivileged communities.

  • The Icon’s Journey Marathon is liable for the transport and accommodation costs for all 10 social runners.

  • The 10 social runners will be sponsored with the Icon's merchandise.
